Celebrating Success: The Pearl Resources Summer Youth Employment Program Graduation

The six-week Pearl Resources Program has come to an end, culminating in a heartwarming graduation ceremony that celebrated the incredible achievements of our students. This event was not just a farewell, but a recognition of their hard work, personal growth, and newfound confidence.

Beyond the ceremony itself, a truly touching moment came when each student individually approached the program's CEO, Dr. Rita Gaither. With a heartfelt thank you, they presented her with a hand-written card and a single rose, a small gesture that spoke volumes about the deep appreciation and gratitude they felt for her leadership and the opportunity provided by the program.

The ceremony also recognized the next steps for several students. In a special moment, scholarships were awarded to the high school seniors of the program who are graduating and moving on to college. This commitment to their future education underscores the program's long-term investment in their success.

Over the past six weeks, these young individuals have undergone a remarkable transformation through a unique curriculum combining:

• Workplace Immersion: Students were placed in various jobs, giving them practical experience and insight into the professional world.

• Saturday Bootcamps: They built discipline through Taekwondo and developed their character with sessions on "The 7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens."

A highlight of the graduation was the premiere of a documentary video, thoughtfully created by Cinevize, chronicling the students' experiences throughout the program. Their individual stories of transformation resonated deeply with the audience. As one student shared in the video, reflecting on their time before the program (00:00:09:11 - 00:00:15:22), "...going through hard times in life, work, mom, and the communication at home, like it, wouldn't really be it. But when I got into this program, stuff started to change a lot, I started changing my ways, you know, and I started to get a lot better."

Another student expressed their appreciation for the Saturday bootcamps (00:03:44:21), stating, "This is the best program I've ever been in. Everyone care about you. The book we're reading is very good. The 7 habits. Seek to understand than to be understood. Before I read the book I would only try to get my point across. Now I listen to others and my relationship with my mom got stronger because I listen to what she has to say."
